Sidechairs

Tasked with creating a public artwork on a limited budget we created a series of ‘social infrastructures’ using ordinary, off-the-shelf outdoor chairs to avoid costs and delays associated with custom fabrication and engineering. The chairs are fixed in unexpected ways to sidewalks around the Shaker Heights neighbourhood. They create arrangements which question relationships, both of the chairs themselves and of their potential occupants, to create humorous, interactive and playful configurations and situations.
